January 10, 1970

Dear Liz,
Tonight we went to a game at A.S. (American School). We (Faith) won both games. I got to sit by Joel, of course.
Nothing much happened today so I don't have anything else to say.

          Love,
               Yvonne

January 6, 1970

Dear Liz,
Today I got to see Joel again. He rode on our bus on the way to his baseball practice. It's not very far but it's better to see him a little bit than not at all.
Looking at what I said yesterday, I forgot to tell you how old the kids were that we kept and what their names were. Angela, the girl, is 14 and in my class at school. Sandy, her brother, is 17, and in Jon's class at school.
Well I can't think of anything else to say so bye now.
          Love,
               Yvonne

Dear Liz,

Tommorrow we have to go back to school again. I happy because I get to see Joel but yet I don't want to have all of that homework that they pile on you.
We are keeping two kids over the Christmas vacation because they can't go home for Christmas. You see, they usually live in the boarding house up at school. Their father died a couple of years ago, I think, but their mom is still a missionary.
          Love,
               Yvonne

January 4, 1970

Dear Liz,

Today in church we had communion.
Our family also had to sing at a church tonight. By the way, I didn't tell you but our family sings together. We made a big record and a little one but I don't think that they are good at all!! The church had a drum and guitars and things like that. It was really cool!

          Love,
               Yvonne

Dear Diary,
I would like to give you a name so that it would be more like talking to a person than just a book or a diary. The problem is, is that I not very good at thinking up good names. If I think of a name I hope that you will like it because you will be stuck with it the rest of your life. (It seems funny using the expression "the rest of your life" because  a diary doesn't exactly have a "life") Hey! I thought of a good name. How about the name, Liz. It's not the best name in the world but it's a good one I think.
Love Yvonne
